Linking two halves of a stereo pair via Ethernet

I think this question has been asked before - probably multiple times - but a search of the subject line didn’t find anything. I did however check to make sure I haven’t asked the question before…Is there anything to be gained by linking two halves of a stereo pair together with a crossover ethernet cable?Ok, I’ve asked it, and it looks stupid now it’s written down, but… the thinking is that one half of a stereo pair almost certainly gets sent the whole stereo signal via wifi - it just throws one half away.And of course the other half of a stereo pair needs the same amount of wifi bandwidth to get the other half of the stereo signal - and it throws the other half away.But if the two are linked together, one can send the data to the other via the wired network, thus halving the wifi bandwidth used.Yeah, I know - sounds unlikely, but I had to ask!

Hisense 90L5HD with 3x Era 300 and Sub (Gen 3)

Hello everyone,My 3 ERA 300s and the sub are connected to my Hisense 90L5HD via Bluetooth. It also works in principle. However, the sound output itself is pure horror. Flat and pale sound output. Is it possible to adjust and improve the sound output in the Sonos app or in any other way? Or do I need an additional soundbar for a good sound experience?Kind regards, Opus

Setting up One SL in a household with S1 speakers

I have moved into a houseshare which has an existing system of Sonos speakers (using the S1 app) and am trying to set up my own speaker for my room (Sonos One SL) on the S2 app, however everytime I sign in - it just prompts me to join the existing network and won’t allow me to set up my product. The top three options in settings (Account, System, Services) are all greyed out. I have tried to downgrade my product but it can’t find it on the system even after restoring my sonos to factory settings.Is there a way that I can set up my speaker on the same wifi network as the S1 speakers as the app is currently preventing this!

I read on this forum yesterday that your Atmos speakers will not play Atmos if you group one non Atmos speaker. So my question is that I group my LIving Room (Arc with two play 3 speakers as surronds) with my Office (Era 300) If I play Atmos albums from Apple will I get them in Atmos with the two play 3’s TIA Steve

Sonos App super slow - Because I have all old devices, or is it likely Network?

Over time the Sonos App on my devices has gotten slower, and slower. Response time is horrendous. I figure it’s gotta be from one of two things:All my devices are OLD Play: 1s and a SoundBar. Perhaps they’re just getting too old for the current capabilities? I have found several threads discussing app performance and Network issues. I’ve done a bit of superficial digging and I don’t **think** I have any network issues going on. I’ve got a pretty solid and stable network. Several of my devices are wired rather than using wirelss, I’m using SonosNet still on the rest. I COULD switch them to using regular wifi, though I’m a bit hesitant because I’ve been using SonosNet successfully since before Wifi was an option.Thoughts on where I should focus my energies?

How many Sonos Outdoor speakers for my backyard

Hey there! I’ve been doing some and decided on getting Sonos Outdoor speakers + Sonos amps for my backyard because I love Sonos and i’ve read that these speakers w/ Trueplay sound great. What’s been very challenging is trying to figure out how many speakers I need to get based on my backyard space. Here’s what I’m thinking so far: Amp #13 speakers in the BBQ area 3 speakers in the covered patio area. Amp #23 speakers on left side of the pool 3 speakers on right side of pool Does this seem appropriate for the space? Also wondering I’m wondering if it’s best to set these up as left/right channels or mono?

Just hooked up a Sonos Amp with a couple Sonance architectural ceiling speakers. Sounds like absolute garbage. I had an am/fm alarm clock back in the 80’s that sounded better. What gives?

Move 2 poor experience with turntable

I’ve been a longtime user of a Sonos One that I love. I’ve been getting into vinyl lately, but since the Sonos One doesn’t have a line in, I decided to purchase a Move 2 so that I’d have the line in for vinyl, but also have some portability around the house when I’m streaming music.I guess the Move 2 was not made with turntables in mind, because it does not work well for this purpose. I’m using a Pro-Ject T1 (also purchased from Sonos) and I have the Move 2 set with line-in autoplay turned on. When I start playing a record, it takes the Sonos nearly 30 seconds to notice that something is playing and turn on, thus missing the first 30 seconds of the song. Once the record is playing, it sounds great.Once the A side of the record is done, and I flip the record over, the Sonos seems to detect the silence and turns off, and it takes 30 seconds to notice music is playing again. If I flip the record really quickly, it will usually play for about 10 seconds, and THEN turns off, before noticing

Play5: Gen2 Stereo Pair, does it require SonosNet?

Afternoon! I’ve got a Play5 Gen2 with a bunk Wi-Fi chip. Works great over ethernet or if I have a WiFi mesh node within 1ft of it. Currently, it’s running over Wi-Fi with a mesh node next to it. As far as the Sonos ecosystem is concerned it’s on Wi-Fi and working fine. I was considering adding a second as a stereo pair, but my concern is that the pairing will require Sonos Net which means it likely won’t work with the bad Wi-Fi card. Will the stereo pair work strictly over my home Wi-Fi? Or does a stereo pair of Play5 Gen2 do the stereo pairing via Sonos Net?

Conflict between Arc and bluetooth headphones

I have an arc connected to a Samsung ( two year old model) TV via the eARC port . Everything works fine except when I want to use a pair of headphones via blutooth … I need to do this for late viewing to avoid disturbing sleepers ..The headphones gets paired with the TV without problems . Once connected , it just works fir a few seconds before the Arc reconnects itself . I have spoken to Sonos support a year or so ago but there was no resolution but apparently was flagged up . Have spoken to Samsung support who says it’s an issue with the Arc . They say there isn’t a problem with their own soundbars and suggested I change over !! Yeah right …A cumbersome work around is to connect an Amazon firestick and works with the headphone once paired .. Is this something that can be resolved without needing the firestick ?

Further sidelining of NAS Music Library in new Sonos App??

I can’t see any mention of a (NAS) Music Library in the promotional content for the new Sonos App. There is plenty of mention of “favourite Music Services” though.Please please tell me that, unlike the new search, support for NAS music libraries is not being further sidelined? This is one of the things that drew me to Sonos in the first place (in 2008 FYI).Joel

Same Sonos app with my account on two phones

It’s a couple months that I can’t use Sonos on my iPhone and my wife’s one. Before I could use the app on my phone, listen to music with Spotify and control the same song on my wife’s phone. My wife could use the same app on her phone, without any problem. Now, if both apps are installed on both phones, I have ‘no connection to Sonos’, then follow the procedure using bluetooth and position, but at last I have no connection at all. If I deinstall the app on one phone, the app on the other one is working again. I hope I explained what happens. Is anybody able to help me? Thanks

Wired amp still needs wireless network?

I have two amps in wireless mode. I’m trying to redo my network and so wired them to the router/switch and got them to WM0. When I connect to my new network though it can’t find them to control and if I do the “fix” link in the app it says a wired component can not connect to a wireless network. I have to connect to my old wireless network to “see” and control them. I finally just reset them over to my new wireless network but I was hoping to have them wired and control them from the app no matter what network I was on. Anyone get how wired works and can explain it?
