Release Notes for Sonos Software Version 7.2

Current software version

Keep your Sonos system on track with support for the new PLAYBASE and more.

Control your new PLAYBASE.

This coming April, Sonos will release a new home cinema PLAYBASE designed specifically for TVs that are on stands and furniture. Its 10-speaker array is optimized with unique sound profiles for movies and music – you’ll experience an extremely wide soundstage and intense, realistic sound effects when your TVs is on, as well as clear, immersive stereo music when it’s off. This update is required for setting up and controlling PLAYBASE from the Sonos app.

A “child lock” for your touch panel.

Every Sonos speaker features touch controls or buttons that let you select songs and adjust volume when you don’t have the Sonos app to hand. But there are moments when what seems like a great feature doesn’t quite work out that way. Like when your cat snuggles down on your PLAY:5 and it keeps skipping to the next song. Or your toddler discovers how to crank the volume up loud enough to wake the neighbours. (True stories from real life Sonos owners!) Now you can avoid these kinds of incidents. Just go to Menu > Room Settings, choose the room your speaker’s located in and deactivate the Speaker Touch Controls.

Sonos 7.2 supports the following OS versions:

  • Android: Android 4.0 and higher
