FEATURES

Release Notes for Sonos Software Update 4.0

  • Sonos Favorites. Now you can access your favorite music (music library, streaming services and radio stations) right from the main Music menu. Simply save tracks, playlists and radio stations as Sonos Favorites and you’ll have one-touch access to them.
    • To save as a Sonos Favorite, make an audio selection and choose Add to Sonos Favorites.
    • To play, select Sonos Favorites from the main Music menu and choose from the list.
    • Because IOS devices are mobile, the music files stored on these devices often leave the house, making them inaccessible to Sonos. For this reason iTunes music on your iPhone or iPad cannot be saved as a Sonos Favorite.

  • 3rd Party App Integration: Sonos has created a simple URL syntax that allows for an outside program to launch the app directly. This functionality is supported with the Sonos Controller for iPhone and iPad and the Sonos Controller for Android.


In addition to the new features above, the Sonos controllers for Android and iPhone contain some additional enhancements:

Sonos Controller for Android

  • Android Widget. The Sonos Controller for Android has been enhanced with the addition of a new widget that allows you to play, pause, or skip to the next track directly from your Android device home screen. The new widget also displays album art, track name and artist or station name so you can quickly see what’s playing without having to launch your Sonos app. Android version 2.2 or higher is needed for this feature.   • Notifications. Many Android devices have a notification bar that displays new pushed messages. The Sonos 4.0 software update supports this functionality to provide you with another easy way to access your music.
  • Omnipresent Search. Finding music just got easier. You can start a new search from anywhere in the app, allowing you to find the music you love faster and easier.


Sonos Controller for iPhone

  • Optimized for iPhone 5. The Sonos Controller for iPhone app now supports the iPhone 5’s larger screen size.

iOS SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later. Certain features may require higher versions of iOS.

ANDROID SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

Requires Android: 2.1 and higher. Certain features may require higher versions of Android.

MAC Software Requirements

  • Mac running OS X v 10.6.8, or v10.7, or 10.8.
  • Internet connection for access to Internet radio stations and online software updates (DSL, cable modem or LAN-based high-speed Internet connection recommended).

PC Software Requirements

  • PC running Windows® XP SP3 or higher, Windows Vista™, Windows 7, Windows 8.
  • 500 MHz Pentium class processor or better.
  • Latest Windows service packs recommended.
  • Internet connection for access to Internet radio stations and online software updates (DSL, cable modem or LAN-based high-speed Internet connection recommended).
