Sonos gives your personal music collection plenty of room to roam. You can store your digital music collection on up to 16 PCs, Macs and NAS devices on your home network. Then, Sonos will wirelessly stream all the music you've ripped and downloaded—all over the house. If you haven't gone digital yet, it's easy to connect a CD player to Sonos, rip your CDs or subscribe to a music service.

Connecting External Devices

Have a favorite CD that isn't ripped? Want to listen to the music that's on your friend's MP3 player? Or want to hear the football play-by-play on the deck? It's a breeze with Sonos because we added analog line-in jacks to the back of every ZonePlayer. Simply connect any external device with a line-out jack to any ZonePlayer and you can play all that music (or audio) in every room. Just grab your Controller, select Line-In Sources from your Music Menu and it's all there and ready to play.

How to connect a CD, TV, VCR or DVD player
  1. You will need a stereo RCA cable.
  2. Connect the stereo RCA line-out on the external device to the RCA line-in on the ZonePlayer.

How to connect an MP3 player
  1. You will need a 3.5mm (baby pin)-to-RCA audio cable.
  2. Connect the baby-pin side of the cable to the portable device and the RCA side to the RCA line-in on the ZonePlayer.

How to connect a satellite radio system
  1. You will need either a stereo RCA cable or a stereo-to-RCA adapter, depending upon the receiver.
  2. Connect the stereo RCA line-out on the receiver to the RCA line-in on the ZonePlayer.

How to rip a CD

Ripping is the word used to describe taking the music from a CD and copying it onto your computer hard drive. Once you've ripped your CDs you can:

  • Play all that music on Sonos (and any other portable music devices you may have).
  • Move all your CDs to the attic or trash—think of all the space you'll save.
